Forever Reign

You are good, You are good
When there's nothing good in me
You are love, You are love
On display for all to see
You are light, You are light
When the darkness closes in
You are hope, You are hope
You have covered all my sin

You are peace, You are peace
When my fear is crippling
You are true, You are true
Even in my wandering
You are joy, You are joy
You're the reason that I sing
You are life, You are life,
In You death has lost it's sting

Oh, I'm running to your arms,
I'm running to arms
The riches of your love
Will always be enough
Nothing compares to Your embrace
Light of the world forever reign

You are more, You are more
Than my words will ever say
You are Lord, You are Lord
All creation will proclaim
You are here, You are here
In your presence I'm made whole
You are God, You are God
Of all else I'm letting go

Oh, I'm running to your arms
I'm running to arms
The riches of your love
Will always be enough
Nothing compares to Your embrace
Light of the world forever reign

My heart will sing
no other name
Jesus, Jesus

Oh, I'm running to your arms
I'm running to arms
The riches of your love
Will always be enough
Nothing compares to Your embrace
Light of the world forever reign

I think that the first line of this song says everything. "You are good. You are good. When there's nothing good in me." We start by acknowledging that God is good and we are not. I think what makes this song so powerful is that we admit that God is: good, love, light, hope, peace, true, joy, life, more, Lord, here, and God.

These are some pretty serious attributes to be proclaiming about our God. The only question is do we actually believe them all or do we just sing them because it is part of a catchy tune? What God has really been teaching me and showing me in the last couple of days is that GOD IS HERE!

"You are here, You are here. In your presence I'm made whole."

Yesterday while rescuing the Chilean miners, this is what one miner had to say after being pulled from the mine that they were stuck in for 69 days: "There are actually 34 of us, because God has never left us down here."

That is a pretty amazing thing to say. I think the reason we forget that God is here is because we have no immediate need for Him. We have everything we need already, why do we need God? Which makes me think that we need God more than ever. The day we forget we need God is the day that we can no longer sing "You are here, You are here. In your presence I'm made whole. You are God, You are God. Of all else I'm letting go"
